The internship provided many amazing opportunities to network in both large and small companies. Networking opportunities are at every corner! Interns are able to practice budgeting, marketing, event staffing, and drafting proposals. This was a full experience that I would very much recommend to anyone looking to go into city work or event planning. The program enhanced me in personal, cultural, professional and social ways that could benefit most young professionals. I had the opportunity of overseeing many special events and contacting companies for resources and partnerships. One project that stood out to me was the Disc Golf Celebration I was in charge of. In other events I would play minor roles, but with the Disc Golf event I oversaw every aspect. We had tallied 81 participants and are expecting growth for next year. Things including staffing, advertising, budgets, liabilities, and data collection. Many of these skills are easily marketable to future employers that may hire me later on. |
